"I have sat on a park bench at full moon, gazing up at the moon glimmering large in the sky, asking the universe for protection and help because I have felt my burden is too heavy and oppressive. "Please help me, dear Universe. I know you can't right now, but as soon as you have time for me, please help me“ - that's how I communicated with the Universe, or whoever was listening to me from above.” - Gerly.

What is a mantra?

A mantra is a sacred phrase, word, or set of words that practitioners believe has religious, magical, or spiritual power. Some mantras have a specific structure or verbal meaning, others do not. In essence, a mantra is a set of words to internalise when you are having a difficult moment or need positive encouragement, protection, or a kind of magical conversation with the Universe. This conversation is always verbally one-sided, but the Universe is always listening.

And mantras are not just affirmations or positive phrases; behind them is the energy and power, or magic, that we have assigned there. The word ‘mantra’ is also used linguistically to describe something that is often said and consciously repeated over and over again.

The power of thought or the power and protection of mantras

"A week after that conversation I had with the Universe in the moonlight, I woke up in the middle of the night and found it was as if I had a revelation that I knew exactly what to do and how to go forward. I felt lighter and more alive. It was as if there was a force, or I had found it within myself." - Gerly.

Of course, this is just an example. Sometimes it takes longer, and sometimes less. Who knows, the Universe may have a queue at the door too.

There is also real power in thought.

Such a request, or a prayer, has great power because we take a moment and commit ourselves and our energies deeply to communicating our thoughts or desires. The same power can be found in mantras, affirmations, or manifestations. They are all like different journeys, but if you put your soul into it, the result is the same. And one good thing can have many names.

Self-realisation technique, protection technique, calming technique - it can be whatever you want to call it. In the end, it's the power of thought and the power of words that count.

"I remember I had a colleague in a psychiatric clinic, and whenever a patient would get upset and shout at her, she would just repeat one word to herself in her mind: oranges, oranges, oranges. She said it calmed her down in those situations." - Caitlin.

This is just one way to bring inner peace and protect yourself from negative energy. For some, crystals work, for others incantations, for others mantras, and some do yoga or meditation. There are different ways. The choice is yours!

How does instilling strong words affect us?

If you're otherwise shy, modest, and insecure, instilling in yourself who you are and want to be will make changes in who you are as a person. At one point, you will see and feel a change - you will be more confident, more courageous, and smile more. As a bonus, your anxiety will decrease, and you'll sleep better at night - your mental health will improve. Yes, it does take time; one chant is not enough. But you have to start somewhere.

But it is important to keep a balance. In particular, it's also important to monitor your inner conversation with yourself. If you keep telling yourself day after day that you're stupid, weak, or fat, then telling yourself a different ‘mantra’ before you go to bed at night may not work. Choose your words when you talk to yourself, because YOU are the first one to hear them.

What can you do for yourself?

There are good and strong qualities in all of us, and it is these qualities that we should be able to see and use to our advantage. Create your message to the Universe, or make a mantra for yourself. Either way, it is also a very good grounding activity. It's okay if you fail the first few times, but don't give up, because practice does make perfect.

"I, too, have sat on a park bench in the moonlight and asked the Universe for a better life, a better job, more money, and whatnot. But I have to admit that sometimes I get the feeling that the Universe is not listening to me at all. What is clear is that nothing happens immediately. This is where determination comes into play. You have to keep talking about what you want, and you have to keep letting the Universe know - and it will listen. If you talk about your desires with good energy, with strong energy, things will eventually go the way they are supposed to go. When I look back now and think about those conversations, I can say that yes, the Universe listened to me" - Caitlin.

So what exactly are you telling yourself or telling yourself?

And where do we go from here? What should or could we tell ourselves then? It depends on the desire, the situation, and your maturity. Here are a few examples:

An aggressive, manipulative, or irritating person - You may be in a situation where you can't just walk away, or you are unable to do so. You may not be able to counter-attack, or you may not be able to deal with the person or the situation. Try not to counter-attack, as this will turn it into a battle full of negative energy. If you feel that the conversation is getting out of hand, say in your mind, “I am strong, I am over this, I am stronger than this, I will not be defeated”. You don't have to say them all, just pick the ones you believe in and that work for you.

Get a sense of the aggressor's energy back to him/her - it's not negative energy that belongs to you, it belongs to someone else. With the same thought, you can create a sense of your application with your own words. For example.

"A fun fact - you can do the same thing with pain. A bit different, but still quite similar. For example, if you feel a pain in your back or any other part of your body, ask yourself, Does this pain belong to me? If the answer comes from inside that it doesn't, then do the same - send that pain back by saying, I'm sending this pain back to the sender. I'll be honest, it's worked for me many, many times." - Caitlin.

Everyday protection - Tell yourself: “I am beautiful, I am good, I am smart, I am successful, I am alive”. Take a moment every day and repeat this to yourself several times. You can do it in your mind, but you can also do it out loud.

NOTE: The important thing is that you are present in the moment and not thinking about something else.

Money - Try not to hold on to money too tightly. Don't cry over money, because that is how you signal to the universe that money doesn't want to be with you. You know that if you hold on to something tightly, it will eventually slip away.

The next time you hand over money, repeat the phrase “it will come back to me many times over”. Do it every time you pay for something. When you pay your bills, you get a service in return - whether it's a warm room or electricity, you need it, after all. You buy food because your body needs it - again, you're doing it for you. You want to treat yourself to something new or an experience - your soul needs it. And that means spending on yourself. Think positively when you give money out.

Think about what you get in return. Why not be grateful that the money you spend is for your own good? They say that money has to move, so let it move and you'll see it come back to you.

NOTE: There are, of course, exceptions to this rule, and it does not apply if you mismanage your money, if you are too profligate. Another thing is the fear of not having enough money or losing it - with the energy of this fear, you will scare away every last cent. In addition, thinking that money is bad does you no good. No, it is not; money does not make someone an evil person. Think of it this way: money amplifies everything that a person already is. If you're good, you'll be even kinder when you're rich.

So let's get started!

Now, take a pen and paper and write down your mantra. Write down as many short sentences as you need, as long as they're what you feel.

Make sure you don't approach it with negative thoughts, either about yourself or anyone else.

The aim is to help yourself by using your positive energy and thoughts. The important thing about the mantra is the words you want to be true about yourself. Who do you want to be? What do you want to bring into your life with these thoughts? Write these things down. And you can always change your mantra, because life changes and people grow.

"For example, I also read a mantra of my creation every night before I go to bed. I usually read it until I fall asleep, or in my mind. It sounds like this: I am loved, I am cherished, I am protected. I am skinny, I am beautiful, I am healthy. I am money, I am abundance, I am prosperity." - Caitlin.

Why is it all necessary?

It's not! And this mantra-making or reading isn't for everyone. Everyone can create their own life and their reality. How someone does it is up to them. Our advice is for those who want it.

You choose the life you want.

It's your choice to either get caught up in the negative energies, to let yourself be drained of energy, or to look at it another way - to value yourself, to value life, to value what you already have.

Don't forget to live for today.

Isn't it true that we have a dream and we set ourselves high goals to achieve it? Then we start to strive hard, it may take years, but in the meantime, we forget to live.

What happens when the goal gets further and further away, but it's as if we are trapped in our dream? But what about those lost years in between when you were working towards your dream? What happens to them? Where did that time go? It's lost time that can never be regained. Live here and now!

"Yes, somebody once said that when we look to the past, we do it in the present moment. If we look to the future, we do it in the present moment. Maybe all we have is the present moment. Live in the here and now, in the present moment." - Caitlin
